Clinical Supervision for Counsellors Across the UK

Reflective, ethical and supportive supervision for qualified and trainee counsellors.

I work integratively, drawing on years of experience and a range of therapeutic approaches. My core training is Person-Centred, alongside Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Solution-Focused approaches where helpful. The supervisory relationship itself is central to meaningful reflection and growth. I have supported counsellors working with a wide range of client presentations and have a particular interest in grief and loss, neurodivergence, trauma, and identity.

Ethical supervision

Supervision sits quietly at the centre of safe and ethical therapeutic work.

Whether you are a qualified counsellor or a student in training, finding the right supervisor is an important part of sustaining both your practice and the clients you support.

Online supervision

I offer online clinical supervision via secure, GDPR-compliant video conferencing.

Working online allows counsellors across the UK to access supervision that fits their practice, wherever they are based.

Reflection & professional growth

Clinical supervision provides a reflective space where curiosity, support, and professional growth can take place. I sometimes think of supervision as an “armour around our profession”, protecting and guiding both counsellor and client in meaningful therapeutic work.

What to expect from supervision

Supervision is built on developing a strong professional alliance.

It is a space where you can bring your client work and reflect on what you are doing in practice, while also being willing to explore the relational dynamics, uncertainties and challenges that may arise.

This means supervision is not only about discussing cases or finding solutions. It is also an opportunity to notice what may be happening within the therapeutic relationship, within yourself as a practitioner, and within the supervision relationship itself.

Inclusive and affirming approach

I recognise the individual needs of each supervisee, as well as the range of clients and experiences they may encounter in their work.

Supervision offers space to explore difference and diversity, including how identity, culture, sexuality, gender, disability and neurodivergence may influence the therapeutic relationship and the wider context of the work.

My aim is to provide a respectful and affirming supervision space where these issues can be considered openly, thoughtfully and without judgement.

Developing your internal supervisor

My supervision practice is informed by the Seven-Eyed Model (Hawkins & Shohet, 2006), which explores therapeutic work from multiple perspectives and supports ethical, reflective practice.

The focus of supervision is not only to support the therapeutic alliance you build with your clients, but also to help you reflect on the ethics and effectiveness of your work, using the 7-Eyed model of supervision to explore the different relational aspects of the therapeutic work.

Over time, this reflective process can support you in developing your own internal supervisor: a stronger ability to pause, think critically about your practice, recognise what may be influencing the work, and make thoughtful ethical decisions with increasing confidence.

Supervision for trainee counsellors

Supporting you as a trainee counsellor involves working closely together as you develop confidence in putting the skills you have learned into practice.

Supervision offers a space to reflect on your client work, consider ethical and professional responsibilities, and explore the areas where you may need further support or challenge.

Where required by your training provider, I can also provide reports that reflect your growth and development over the course of your placement.

Teaching clinical supervision

I also teach online clinical supervision to practitioners. This helps keep me grounded in current supervisory practice and focused on the importance of building and maintaining a strong supervisory alliance.

Teaching also gives me ongoing opportunities to reflect on how supervision supports ethical practice, professional growth and the quality of the work supervisees offer their clients.

Supervisor feedback

“I would absolutely recommend Paul’s supervision. He is an experienced, knowledgeable, and a supportive counsellor and supervisor.”
